Reaffirming its commitment to serve the unique financial needs of its Islamic banking customers, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon has opened new Al Adalah Islamic Banking Counters at its Dehiwala and Galle Fort branches. This initiative further broadens the Bank’s network of Sharia-compliant banking services, making them more accessible to customers across different regions of Sri Lanka.
These new counters are the fourth and fifth of their kind, joining the existing facilities at Commercial Bank’s City Office in Colombo 1, Main Street Pettah, and Kattankudy branches. Each counter has been established to deliver convenient and dedicated services for customers seeking banking solutions that align with Islamic principles.
Staffed by personnel specially trained in Islamic banking, the new Al Adalah counters offer a comprehensive range of essential services, including account opening, lending facilities, and customer support. Each counter is also supported by a dedicated Islamic Banking Unit Officer who ensures personalized attention and efficient service for customers in and around these areas.
Under its ‘Al Adalah’ Islamic Banking brand, Commercial Bank offers a wide portfolio of products that fully comply with Sharia principles. These include Wadiya Yad Dhaman Current Accounts, Mudaraba Savings Accounts and Investments, Diminishing Musharaka, Murabaha and Musawamah financing, Ijara Leasing, and Import Financing. All these products and services are provided under the supervision of the Bank’s Sharia Board, comprising respected scholars in Islamic jurisprudence, ensuring that every offering adheres to the highest standards of Sharia compliance.
Commercial Bank holds a strong position in Sri Lanka’s financial sector as the first bank in the country with a market capitalization exceeding US$ 1 billion.
