Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), in collaboration with Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC, has launched Shariah-compliant Takaful insurance solutions through its banking network. The official inauguration took place on April 30 at EBL’s head office in Dhaka.
Under this bancassurance partnership, customers of EBL will now be able to access Islamic Takaful insurance products directly from the bank’s branches. This initiative brings banking and insurance services together on a single platform, offering greater convenience and a more seamless experience for customers.
The initiative is expected to play a significant role in promoting financial inclusion and addressing the growing demand for ethical, Shariah-compliant financial protection solutions in Bangladesh. It also reflects the increasing focus on integrating Islamic financial services into mainstream banking channels.
The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organizations. From EBL, attendees included M Khorshed Anowar, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking; AKM Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Chief of Islamic Banking; and Sarmin Atik, Head of Liability and Wealth Management.
