Bank Islam Introduces Mobile Shariah-Compliant Will-Writing Service

Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad has introduced a Shariah-compliant will-writing service through its BIMB Mobile application, becoming the first bank in Malaysia to offer this feature via a mobile banking platform. This move marks a significant milestone in the digitalisation of Islamic financial services.

The service was developed in collaboration with Amanah Warisan Berhad (AWARIS) and reflects a growing effort to integrate estate planning into modern financial ecosystems. It also highlights the bank’s commitment to advancing digital solutions in Islamic wealth management.

Through this feature, customers can prepare their wills securely and conveniently while ensuring full compliance with Shariah principles. The service is seamlessly integrated into the bank’s existing digital platform and operates under strict data security measures and Shariah governance standards.

Bank Islam’s Director of Wealth Management, Datin Zaharah Abdul Muttalib, stated that the initiative is aimed at encouraging more customers to engage in estate planning. She noted that the platform enables users to manage both their financial matters and legacy planning anytime and anywhere.

AWARIS Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Prof. Datuk Ahmad Saruji Abdul Aziz, described the collaboration as a major step forward for Malaysia’s digital estate planning sector. He added that the integration simplifies the process of managing inheritance while promoting financial responsibility and well-being.

The will-writing service became available on April 8, 2026, to all Bank Islam customers. As part of a promotional campaign, the Platinum Plan is being offered at RM300, and the first 250 customers who complete their applications will receive a RM40 Touch ’n Go eWallet voucher.
