FoodAg 2025 Launches in Karachi, Aims to Forge $1 Billion in Export Deals

Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan inaugurates Pakistan’s largest food and agriculture expo, highlighting economic stability and a firm stance on security for trade.

The 3rd International Food & Agriculture Exhibition (FoodAg 2025) was officially inaugurated today by Federal Minister for Commerce, Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, at the Karachi Expo Centre. The event, Pakistan’s premier food trade platform, has attracted a record delegation of over 800 international buyers from 80 countries, with business generation projected to exceed $1 billion.

Under the theme “Harvesting Innovation, Cultivating Sustainability,” the exhibition showcases products from more than 350 leading Pakistani exporters. Key exhibits include Basmati rice, Himalayan pink salt, premium seafood, halal meat, dairy, and a range of value-added foods.

In his inaugural address, Minister Khan affirmed Pakistan’s economic progress, stating, “Pakistan has achieved stability and is now accelerating its exports.” He announced the Prime Minister’s directive to immediately eliminate the federal Export Development Surcharge, a move designed to reduce business costs and boost national exports.

The Minister also addressed trade with Afghanistan, firmly stating that trade with Kabul will not resume until Afghanistan takes concrete measures to prevent cross-border terrorism. “Pakistan is prepared to endure trade losses, but we will always prioritize the safety of our citizens and security forces,” he emphasized.

A Gateway for Global Partnerships

Mr. Faiz Ahmad, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), highlighted the event’s significance: “We are opening the doors to Pakistan’s abundant harvest and our unwavering commitment to feeding the world reliably and sustainably.” He noted that thousands of pre-scheduled B2B meetings are taking place over the three-day event, fostering long-term partnerships that will benefit farmers and exporters nationwide.

Minister Khan added, “Pakistan’s diverse agro-climatic zones and the Government’s focused policies are transforming us from a large producer into a leading branded supplier. FoodAg 2025 clearly demonstrates that our strategy is delivering results.”

The event features high-level conferences on sustainability and a spectacular Pakistan Cuisine Pavilion with 21 international celebrity chefs preparing live dishes using Pakistani ingredients. In a significant step to boost trade, an MoU was also signed to strengthen the export of Pakistani products to the United Kingdom.
