Karachi: Macter International Limited, one of Pakistan’s leading pharmaceutical companies, has partnered with Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance to launch the “Akhuwat & Macter Qarz-e-Hasan Project” in Orangi Town. The initiative was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations.
The agreement represents a shared commitment to poverty alleviation, economic empowerment, and the upliftment of marginalized communities. Both organizations aim to support individuals who lack access to conventional financial services by providing them with opportunities to improve their economic conditions.
Under the MoU, Macter International Limited will donate Rs35 million as a revolving credit fund to Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance. The fund will be used to provide interest-free loans (Qarz-e-Hasan) to deserving beneficiaries across Karachi.
As part of the initiative, a dedicated branch will be established in Orangi Town No. 5 to facilitate the distribution of these loans and support local residents seeking financial assistance.
The project is designed to help individuals start new small businesses or expand existing ones, ultimately improving livelihoods and enabling communities to achieve long-term financial stability and sustainable economic independence.
