Raqami Islamic Digital Bank has officially launched as Pakistan’s first fully Islamic digital retail bank operating entirely on domestic cloud infrastructure, marking a major milestone in the country’s financial and technology landscape. The launch represents a significant step forward in combining Shariah-compliant banking with modern cloud-native digital capabilities.
The bank’s entire technology stack — including core banking systems, digital channels, as well as Production (PR) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments — has been deployed on JazzWorld’s Garaj platform. The Tier III-certified infrastructure provides built-in redundancy, continuous monitoring, advanced threat detection, and strict access governance, ensuring high levels of reliability, security, and operational resilience.
Designed from the ground up as a cloud-native institution, Raqami eliminates the limitations of legacy banking systems and establishes a scalable, high-performance digital foundation. This architecture enables the bank to support sustained innovation while maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering seamless customer experiences.
Shahzad Rasheed, President Enterprise Solutions at JazzWorld, said the launch demonstrates Garaj’s ability to support regulated banking operations on a secure and resilient domestic cloud infrastructure at national scale. He emphasized that the platform is built to meet the demanding requirements of financial institutions operating in highly regulated environments.
Umair Aijaz, CEO of Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, stated that deploying the bank on Garaj has enabled the creation of a secure, scalable, and future-ready infrastructure. He added that the move accelerates innovation while upholding rigorous operational and security standards required for modern digital banking.
With this launch, Raqami sets a new benchmark for cloud-hosted financial services in Pakistan, reinforcing Garaj’s role in delivering business continuity-enabled digital banking infrastructure and shaping the future of Islamic digital finance in the country.
