KUCHING: The Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) has launched its Islamic Banking Window as part of efforts to enhance its financial services and support the state’s inclusive development agenda. The initiative also positions Sarawak to tap into the fast-growing global shariah-compliant finance market, which is currently valued at US$5.5 trillion and is projected to reach US$7.5 trillion by 2028.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the introduction of the Islamic Banking Window strategically strengthens the state’s presence within the global Islamic financial ecosystem. He noted that the move will broaden Sarawak’s financial capabilities while opening doors to new investment opportunities that adhere to shariah principles.
The launch of the Islamic Banking Window is expected to support DBOS’ mandate in driving development across key sectors in Sarawak. It will also offer customers access to alternative financing solutions that comply with Islamic finance standards, further contributing to the state’s long-term economic aspirations.
