SERREKUNDA – In a significant boost for grassroots sports, the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organization (SESDO) has announced a major two-year partnership deal with Yonna Group to sponsor the annual Serrekunda East ‘nawettan’ knockout competition.
The agreement, signed on Tuesday, signifies a substantial commitment from Yonna Group, which will provide both financial backing and institutional support to ensure the successful organization of the popular local tournament.
Yuspha Cham, President of SESDO, hailed the agreement as a massive strategic partnership aligned with the organization’s East Forward Development Programmes.
“I signed a two-year partnership with Yonna Group of Companies to develop sports in Serrekunda East,” Cham stated.
Key Details of the Partnership:

Financial Support: Yonna Group will provide an annual sum of D350,000 for the tournament sponsorship and an additional D100,000 for branding.

Branding Rights: In return, the group will receive extensive branding rights at the Democracy Pavilion One, Two, and other designated areas around the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Financial Inclusion: A core component of the deal involves financial empowerment. SESDO will open an account with Yonna Islamic Micro-Finance and use Yonna Wallet. All nawettan teams in Serrekunda East will also be required to open accounts with Yonna Wallet.

Digital Ticketing: The partnership will modernize ticket sales, with advance nawettan tickets sold and teams’ gate fees processed digitally through the Yonna Wallet platform.
SESDO leadership expressed gratitude for Yonna Group’s strong sense of corporate social responsibility and their dedication to community engagement, youth advancement, and sports development.
